For all of April, we have the special opportunity to celebrate the hard work of volunteers everywhere, especially those that dedicate their time to YWCA. We appreciate our volunteers no matter the time of year, but take this month to especially recognize the many ways they contribute to YWCA’s mission.

April is here and so is National Volunteer Appreciation Month. This month, we celebrate volunteers by acknowledging the impact they make in their communities. Nonprofit organizations recognize and give gratitude to volunteers for making a difference in the world. Points of Light sponsors a whole week to volunteer appreciation by encouraging individuals and groups to celebrate the volunteers in their community and share their experiences while volunteering.

Why is National Volunteer Appreciation Month important?

  • Volunteers do amazing work every day by utilizing their expertise and creativity to bring resources and hope to people in need.
  • YWCA relies deeply on volunteer support to keep our programs running efficiently.
  • It is important to let volunteers know their work is valued to keep up motivation and spread the volunteer spirit.
  • Issues in the world are never going to end. It is up to all of us to inspire each other to give back and make change happen.
  • A culture of volunteerism brings us closer together by knocking down stereotypes and giving us a common goal.

Share your story

Please celebrate National Volunteer Appreciation Month with us by sharing your on-the-job volunteer experiences on Twitter using the handles @YWCAvolunteers and @PointsOfLight. Don't forget to hashtag your tweet with #ivolunteer. Let us know why/when/where you started volunteering and what you enjoy most about volunteering. We would love to hear from you!

Thank you

Whether gaining a skill through service learning, beautifying our community with environmental projects, or stepping up in an emergency, volunteers are at the center of it all. YWCA wants to thank all our volunteers for donating their time to our cause. We couldn't do what we do without the support of our community. Thank you for helping YWCA transform Seattle and King and Snohomish counties!
