WHAT IS TRANS AWARENESS WEEK & WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Transgender Awareness Week is an annual call to action for celebration, education, and activism across communities. Participation is key for not only transgender advocates, but especially for allies as well.
While a part of Transgender Awareness Week is raising the visibility of trans people and leaders, visibility in and of itself is not the goal. As educator, podcaster, and cancer survivor Ericka Hart puts it, "Trans awareness week is a great time to remember that visibility does not equal justice, safety or freedom."
