Parents for Parents is a Snohomish County program that promotes the safe and timely reunification of families with a dependency case through early engagement in peer mentoring and education on the dependency system and processes.
Parent Ally Mentors, who have successfully reunited their own families after a dependency case, provide support to parents who are new to the process, and can provide assistance at dependency hearings.
Educational classes, Dependency 101 and 201, help parents overcome barriers they might encounter throughout the dependency process.
Topics covered in Dependency 101 include court etiquette, resources if a child is removed from the home, how to write a statement for the court, parent’s rights, the dependency timeline, family drug treatment court, and key players in the dependency process.
Dependency 201 addresses other barriers that can challenge progress, helps parents develop a positive support network, and provides an in-depth look at the process requirements, such as visitation, parenting and life skills, housing, child care, education, and employment.
This program serves Snohomish County parents who are newly engaged in an open dependency case with Child Welfare Services.
