PharmacyWork$ is a free, online job readiness training created in response to help meet the needs of today’s workforce and the need to help job seekers reenter the workforce.

PharmacyWork$ is designed to help job seekers access critical job opportunities currently available and to prepare for the jobs that are in high demand and growing to meet the needs of today’s workforce. The program consists of a 5-week course offered completely online using Zoom and focused on preparing students to enter the pharmacy field and to pursue certification including the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam.

This course covers the following key areas and topics: Pharmacy calculations, medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, skills to read and interpret prescriptions, review of the top 200 drugs, skills to identify drugs by generic and brand names, dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, and dose conversions and dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement.

PharmacyWork$ runs three days/week for 4 hours a day, with homework assignments and separately scheduled Virtual Self Study planning. Students need to have a computer to access the class and YWCA has been able to provide low-cost laptops to those who need them by leveraging a separate grant. Classes are taught by experienced instructors live via Zoom and include one-on-one career coaching and navigation with experienced career navigators.

PharmacyWork$ achieved so much success with the first class in 2021 and has continued to grow and evolve ever since.
